‘Yirranma Place’ – 262 Liverpool Street, Darlinghurst

Project Work: Fitout and Refurbishment

Builder : Mainbrace Constructions

Site Location: 262 Liverpool Street Darlinghurst

262 Liverpool Street has always been an impressive feature in the Darlinghurst landscape and the now aptly named Yirranma Place (meaning ‘many create’ in Gadigal) was indeed the creation of many.  Alland Group was proud to be engaged by Mainbrace to deliver a full Design and Construct electrical and communications system, in consultation with heritage experts and guidelines, energy authorities, councils and client requirements.  The brief for this once in a lifetime project was complex and challenging, but the end result is simply stunning.

The former First Church of Christ Scientist opened for services in 1927 and whilst the exterior of the building is mostly unchanged, the interior has undergone several changes during the ensuing 95 years.

The building’s many heritage features necessitated strict adherence to guidelines for their preservation, which meant ‘ingenious work solutions’ with regard to removal and replacement of all electrical wiring, together with removal, retention and reinstallation of numerous original light fittings.

The classically beautiful building was modernised sympathetically with the latest technological advances that we take for granted today.

Alland’s scope of works were immense.
