80 Pitt Street Sydney

Project Work: Fitout and Refurbishment

Builder: Built Pty Ltd

The QBE building at 80-82A Pitt Street in the Sydney CBD was previously known as Bryant House and was built for the City Mutual Life Assurance Association as an investment property. The building was designed by Emil Sodersten in association with T. W. Hodgson and Sons and was constructed by Hutcherson Bros in 1939. The building features an unusual serrated facade of textured face brick above a polished granite plinth with simple Art Deco mouldings.

In 2016 Built engaged Alland Group to remove and upgrade all electrical and communications cabling and infrastructure to the entire building (14 floors) and upgrade all areas to current Australian Standards including new technology such as smart centralised metering, monitored motion sensor emergency and exit lighting, C-Bus intelligent lighting control, split chassis house and tenant switchboards, customised LED lighting throughout, consumer and submains universally, Cat 6 infrastructure and much more.

Alland Group faced major challenges in replacing the existing 3000amps Main Switchboard and all associated submain cabling whilst keeping the existing building and retailers fully functional and maintaining the integrity of the impressive Art Deco Heritage of the building where possible.

We are very proud to have completed another project within budget and program constraints.
